::Mother, Best Friend & Me::

Charlotte and Lucas just walked down the quiet streets together, just talking about their past, their present and their hopes for their future. Charlotte missed the times she had with Lucas. She forgot how he made her smile, how he knew almost every single thought she had in her mind and how he was so sweet, sensitive and sensual.

"So, since you and Dilly left, everything just wasn't the same anymore," Lucas said, rousing Charlotte from her train of thoughts.

"Really? Why's that?" she asked.

"I guess the spark of life for me just felt along with you, Char. You can't imagine how much I've missed having you around," Lucas replied.

Charlotte forced a smile, "That's... sweet, Luke." Suddenly, there was just a silence between them. At least they were at Charlotte's front door about 30 seconds into the silence.

"Well, this is me," Charlotte said and turned to face Lucas, "I had a great time tonight. It was nice meeting you again." Then, the silence came back...

"You wanna come up?" Charlotte asked, surprised that she broke the silence between them, "My mother is home and I'm sure she'll be psyched to see you. You were her favourite boy in the past."

"Sure, why not? I'm sure I'm still her favourite boy," Lucas teased as they went upstairs to see Mrs Webber.

As they walked through the door, Mrs Webber was dusting the furniture and when she looked up and saw Lucas, she started to scream.

"Lucas! It's been so long!" Mrs Webber said as she hugged Lucas tight, "You're such a big boy now... oh I missed you!" Charlotte laughed as she saw her mother behaved in such a elated manner.

"I missed your hospitality too, Mrs Webber," Lucas replied.

"Now how did you get back with this fine young man, Char?" Mrs Webber asked her bemused daughter.

"Picked him up at the smoothie shop. He's all yours, Mom," Charlotte said as she walked to the kitchen, "I'll get you guys something to drink."

A couple of hours later, Mrs Webber was still buzzing with life getting information out of Lucas about his life, his family and to find out if he had a girlfriend. Charlotte was glad that her mother was happy since things happened. She wanted life to get back to normal and the appearance of her best friend seemed like it was the beginning of something good.

"Mom, don't you have to go to bed? We have work in the morning," Charlotte interrupted the chatter.

"Yes Mrs Webber, I should be going too. I have some business to attend to early in the morning," Lucas said, trying to go along with Charlotte to coax her mother to get to bed.

"Oh alright. I shall leave you two alone. Good night and it was really great to have you here tonight, Lucas. Come by often. I'll make you your favourite pie," Mrs Webber said before she kissed the two kids and went off to bed.

"Thank you for a lovely night and for cheering my mother up," Charlotte said as they finished up their drinks.

"You said thank you enough there. It was my pleasure," Lucas said as he pulled Charlotte closer to hug her. Charlotte forgotten how comfortable it is to be in a man's arms and Lucas was giving her everything she missed about intimacy.

"I just wished Dylan would come back," Charlotte whispered before she fell asleep in Lucas' arms.
