::Second Chances?::

The next morning, Charlotte woke up and found herself asleep on the couch but Lucas wasn't there. She looked around and heard laughter coming from the kitchen. She shook her head, her mother was giving Lucas the royal treatment and she wanted them to have all the bonding time they needed. It was nearly time to open up the shop for the workers to continue renovating the shop and for Matt to come by and finish up the banner.

Charlotte didn't know why everytime she thought of Matt or his name, her heart would leap. Sure, he was a cute blonde boy with a sense of humour but that was it. He wasn't Dylan in anyway and Dylan was hundred times better than him. Charlotte got the thoughts out of her head and decided to take a nice shower.

"So tell me, do you still like my daughter?" Mrs Webber asked Lucas as she poured him some more coffee. Lucas just forced a smile and ate his toast.

"Don't hide anything from me now, young man. I've seen the same look years ago and it was plastered all over your face last night," Mrs Webber continued.

"I do admit Charlotte is very beautiful and I cherish her a lot," Lucas finally answered, "but I want things to come in their time."

"Lucas, you let things go their natural path and look where it led you years ago... a heartache when Charlotte chose Dylan. Now you have a second chance at it, so why don't you just take the hint and go for it? I'll be very happy if you were my son-in-law," Mrs Webber said.

"It's to early to say, Mrs Webber. You know Charlotte... she just got off Dylan and she needs to heal," Lucas replied.

"She told you what happened right? She needs someone to hold her and make her feel secure again. Dylan gave her that but he was a passionate person only to his work. I know my daughter. She needs someone who can give her both security and passion," Mrs Webber said, sitting down opposite Lucas and sipping on her coffee.

"It's not right for me to act on my own wishes with regards to Charlotte. Let her decide what is best for her," Lucas said.

Before Mrs Webber can reply, Charlotte popped her head into the kitchen.

"What are you guys talking about so early in the morning?" Charlotte asked. Mrs Webber and Lucas just shook their heads.

"Just the usual stuff. Come have breakfast," Mrs Webber said.

Meanwhile, Matt woke up... still dazed and with a throbbing headache. He shouldn't have drank that much champagne with Eva. Shit! Eva... what happened last night? What happened? Matt's mind could not process any information due to the lack of oxygen flowing through his mind.

He tried to stand up, knocking over a few of his things to get to the bathroom to clean up. As he washed his face and had a cold shower, he tried to recall what happened. Did he sleep with Eva again? Why did he keep making stupid mistakes like this?

After the shower, he noticed Eva left him a message on his table:
"Dear Matt, thank you for a lovely evening. You were great. Hope to get together with you again. Love, Eva."

"Shit!" Matt screamed and threw the piece of paper away. He really did it with her again, "Oh damn it!"

However, there was no time to regret and get pissed off anymore. He had a job to get to. It was a job he couldn't wait to get to... or rather he couldn't wait to see the hirer again. Matt picked up his work stuff and noticed the half drawn picture of Charlotte lying on the floor with weird foot prints and water stains on it. It was ruined.

Matt felt anguish and hurt... not because his painting was ruined but because it was about Charlotte that hurt him the most. He picked it up and looked at it. He couldn't just rip it or crush it up to throw away. It would be to cruel. All he did was to fold it up and tuck it under some old newspapers.

Time to go to work and see the real girl...
