::Home Bound::

Matt couldn't believe he was going home today. He couldn't believe he was going home at all. It didn't help the fact that Charlotte was there to see him off into the taxi. She wished him an enjoyable trip and bring back pictures of his family since she never got to see any at his apartment. That made Matt feel worse. He almost wanted to tell her about his family... being nobels of Eisenberg and how he was a renegade son of the Lord of Eisenberg.

However, when Matt saw the shimmer in Charlotte's eyes and the hope and love she was showering on him, he didn't have the heart to tell her that he had been hiding a big part of his life from her... and even worse, himself. "I'll only be in Eisenberg for a couple of weeks and I'll be back here living the rest of my life with a wonderful woman and leading a commoner's life. What's going to go wrong?" Matt thought to himself.

"I'll miss you so much Charlotte," Matt said as he gave her one last big hug and a lingering kiss on her soft lips.

"I'm missing you already," Charlotte whispered as she closed her eyes to savour the kiss a little longer, "But you have fun. Call me when you can. Besides, I can spruce up your apartment in peace while you're away."

As the taxi drove off, Matt turned back only to see Charlotte wiping tears from her eyes. As Matt turned back to try to at least enjoy his ride home, the taxi driver asked if Matt knew about the big wedding back in Eisenberg. Matt just smiled.

"It's such a big wedding that everyone in Eisenberg is going to be able to watch it on television! Most of the people are going to have a parade especially for the couple they say are going to make Eisenberg a far better place than it will ever be. You must be one of them in the parade aye?" the taxi driver said with a smile on his face.

Matt forced a smile. He knew that Alex was going to be a great leader because of his charisma, intellect and big heart. Somehow Matt could never compare himself to his older brother and was somehow glad that Alex was around. "You're doing the right thing. You are making Alex happy," he thought to himself, "Nevermind the expectation of an angry father or a lecture about disgrace to the family. Alex's happiness should be of great importance."

The taxi driver continued to tell Matt about the new addition to the family... Annanessa. She has won the hearts of her people because she held her family together when her mother passed on and she helped her father with the dealings of the people and she made her hometown prosperous and happy.

Matt didn't know much of Annanessa because he hadn't seen her much in all these years that she had been dating Alex but Alex did talk about Annanessa on his frequent visits and vaugely explained how they met on the continental peace conference and how their love blossomed between peace talks, solving famine and poverty as well as lunches with some of the biggest names you could ever hear.

Matt did jokingly admit that it was a little weird to meet your wife at a peace conference but he guess love is the epitome of all peace. Alex and Annanessa could be forseen as the future ambassadors of peace, love and harmony. Where they will go all over the world and spread the peace message while handling the matters of Eisenberg with much ease. "Gawd... too diplomatic-romantic for Charlotte and I," he thought.

Matt was intrigued by the fact he thought of Charlotte. He never ever thought of anyone suitable for marriage maybe because he was scared of being tied down himself. Maybe knowing Charlotte was a plan God had for his life... for him to realise that there is someone out there that could tame the lion in Matthew... one who could make him realise the importance of family instead of singlehood.

"Your girlfriend is very pretty. She's the flower girl down the street, yes?" the taxi driver suddenly asked. Matt found it weird that even the taxi driver could tell that he was thinking about Charlotte.

"She's a true flower girl... and she's my fiance," Matt said, feeling happy about it. He noticed the taxi driver smile a little before driving into Eisenberg. Matt peered out the windows to see how things have really changed in this town. It was bustling with the preperations of the wedding but in certain sense, Eisenberg still raked a similar feeling in his heart.

Matt was home.
