::Uncomfortable Is An Understatement::

Matt was really careful when Charlotte was on his bike. He didn't race down the streets like he used to when he's alone and he even make sures he slows down at the junction. When he could feel Charlotte's grip getting tighter on his waist, he would slow down until he felt her grip loosen.

Finally, they arrived at Matt's apartment. Matt helped Charlotte alight from the scooter before he parked. Charlotte helped him by moving his stuff onto the sidewalk.

"Thanks for helping with the stuff," Matt said.

"No, thank you for a wonderful day. I hadn't had so much fun in a long time," Charlotte replied, "... and the sketch is beautiful."

Matt blushed and started to get shifty, "It's nothing..."

"... it's something to me," Charlotte replied and walked over to hug Matt. She closed her eyes and felt his warm body touch her skin. It made her tingle all over. Matt was a little surprised that she hugged him but all his body could respond was to reach out and hold her. It was just a hug but Matt didn't feel such euphoria before. It was even better than having sex.

Luke was about to give up. He had been circling the town a couple of times and Charlotte was nowhere to be found. Luke knew Charlotte's behaviour really well. Since their school days, whenever Charlotte was upset or needed some time out on her own, she would just disappear from the world for a while and just be herself.

Luke knew almost everything about Charlotte and he loved every bit of her... somehow he couldn't get Charlotte to see through his eyes and make her fall back in love with him too. Everytime he advanced, Charlotte would just pull back and chide him for crossing their best friend barrier.

He wanted to tell her so many times that he intended to cross that line and be someone closer. He wanted her to know that there was no one else who knew her better than him and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

But no... Charlotte had to fall in love with a stranger that she coincidentally met at the smoothie shop when Luke was held up and could not meet her. Just one mistake by getting held up by something urgent and he lost it all... all his chances with the girl he loved to some guy who had a passion that Charlotte had... plants.

Suddenly, he noticed a very familiar girl at the sidewalk talking happily to another guy. Oh no... it was Charlotte. Luke felt as though history was repeating itself. He was watching Charlotte get close to another guy and he wasn't happy at all. Luke pulled up beside them and honked loudly, making both of them jump.

"Luke? What are you doing here?" Charlotte asked as she walked up to Luke's window. Luke noticed the guy ruffling his hair and heaving a sigh.

"Your mother needs help at the shop and I was asked to pick you up," Luke said.

"But where did you know to find me anyway?" Charlotte asked.

"I just know, Char. Please get in," Luke replied.

Charlotte turned to Matt and told Luke she needed a few minutes to settle something. She went back to Matt and hugged him but before Charlotte could say anything, Matt smiled and told her to go with Luke.

"Your boyfriend needs you. You'll get to see my paintings some other time," Matt said.

"I'm sorry about this but my mother needs help back at the shop. I'm sorry to put you in an uncomfortable spot like this," Charlotte answered.

"It's alright... though uncomfortable is an understatement. Take care Charlotte. I'll see you at the opening of your shop," Matt said as he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Goodbye Matt," Charlotte said and she turned her back to him and went into Luke's car. Matt watched her leave... his heart was being dragged along with her.
