::Close Talk::

Luke and Charlotte entered the house as she tried to help move Luke's stuff into the house. Luke laughed at how Charlotte was struggling with the smallest bag that he had.

"Come on Char... you can't lift that for nuts," Luke laughed at Charlotte while she stared at him.

"Well, at least I'm trying to help," Charlotte snapped back.

"Ooh, fiesty," Luke joked as he helped her carry the bags to the side of the room as Charlotte slumped onto the couch telling him that this would be his bed for the rest few weeks or so.

"Very classy. Good view too," Luke said, trying to sound funny as he pointed to the window where there was nothing but the other side of the building.

"Well, at least you would be looking after my plants while you are asleep. They like the attention," Charlotte retorted, "and in return of the favour of letting you stay in MY house, you have to help me water my precious plants every morning." Luke agreed as he settled beside Charlotte and looked at her.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" Charlotte asked as she brushed her face. Luke laughed and shook his head.

"You aren't telling me the truth. You're hiding something," Luke replied, "I can see it... come on, I've been your best friend like forever. You have to give me credit for finding out."

Charlotte sighed, "Why does everyone want to know what's going on? Why can't we just go back to normal and pretend nothing happened?" Luke shooked his head and put a hand around Charlotte's shoulder. Finally, Charlotte told Luke about Matt and how he lied about his family and all... she couldn't believe she was telling Luke this but somehow it seemed like the right thing to do at that time.

"I don't know what to do Luke," Charlotte said as she wrapped herself with a pillow.

Luke was silent for a moment. He wasn't really listening to what Charlotte was saying because he realised it was his perfect time to strike... to be the good guy and the shoulder for her to cry on. This was what he had been waiting for and the timing would never be better. He didn't know what his next move was but he was determined to be there for her no matter what.

"Do you really like him?" Luke asked. Charlote shrugged her shoulders but Luke knew he had to rekindle her old feelings...

"I guessed as much... you do like him but... do you like him more than Dilly?" Luke said, well knowing the effect that name had on Charlotte. He watched as her face fell and her smile faded into worry and hurt.

"No, of course not," Charlotte replied but her voice faltered and upset.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to bring him up," Luke said, trying to sound as real as he possibly could, "I just..."

"... it's ok. I don't blame you. You're right. I shouldn't be doing this... not when I just lost the love of my life," Charlotte said matter-of-factly, "you're right. This this wrong."

Luke moved closer to Charlotte and placed his arm over her shoulders, "I'm here. you can let it all out." Charlotte looked at the concern on Luke's face and just leant her body towards Luke. She was glad that through the storms in her life... there were people who loved her so much... her mom and her best friend.

Matt walked from the bar and down the street. He saw a jewellery shop and stared at the window display for a moment. All the diamonds and gems just seem to call out to him but he's seen them all. His mother had almost every gem in every form. However, there was a ring that caught his eye. It was a small diamond ring set on a silver band. Somehow he could just imagine Charlotte looking at it and smiling. Matt then pulled out his phone.

"Matthew?" Alex's voice came through.

"Yeah. It's me," Matt said, "Listen I have something to ask you." He could hear Alex get all amazed and laughed, "Lex, it's not funny you know..." Alex got his composure and listened to what his brother have to say.

"I think I'm going to propose to Charlotte," Matt said but he sounded really calm.

Alex was a little shocked, "Are you sure? Did you get to talk to her? What happened?"

Matt rolled his eyes, "Lex... chill! I did talk to her but I gave her time to make her decision about us. She would let me know tomorrow."

Alex replied, "You have my blessings Matthew. She would be a great girl. But what are you going to propose with? You do know Mother has a ring saved for your marriage..."

Matt sighed, "Lex... I have my own plans."
